Violence erupted in Mexico following the assassination of Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes, aka 'El Mencho,' the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Formed in 2009, CJNG is known for its aggressive tactics and rapid growth, rivaling the Sinaloa Cartel. The U.S. provided intelligence for the operation that killed El Mencho.
