💨 Abstract

The James Webb Space Telescope has mapped Uranus' northern lights in 3D for the first time. Uranus, known for its unusual 98° orbit and misaligned magnetic field, has an ionosphere rich in ions, similar to Earth's auroras. The telescope observed Uranus for nearly a full Uranian day, revealing that the planet's ionosphere is dynamic and influenced by its magnetic field.
