💨 Abstract
The author recounts their experience performing at MEHFIL, a London-based arts organization celebrating South Asian artists. They reflect on their journey as a queer, trans woman of Muslim and Pakistani Indian heritage, navigating societal and cultural expectations. The author discusses their struggle with toxic masculinity and heteronormative roles within their community, their journey to self-acceptance, and their return to Islam on their own terms.
