💨 Abstract

A 2,000-year-old papyrus fragment found in Cairo contains 30 previously unknown verses by Empedocles, a 5th-century BCE Greek philosopher. The fragment, identified as part of Empedocles' major work "Physica," was discovered in the archives of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology. It discusses theories of particle effluvia and sensory perception, providing direct insight into Empedocles' original thoughts.
