💨 Abstract
Retailers are transitioning from traditional barcodes to QR codes, which can store more product information like ingredients and allergens. Nearly half of British retailers have updated their checkouts for this change. Tesco is leading the trial with fresh produce and meat products. QR codes offer benefits such as reducing food waste, improving stock control, and providing richer product information via smartphones.
