💨 Abstract
Thea Energy, a fusion startup, is developing a unique reactor design called Helios that aims to generate 390 megawatts of electricity. Unlike traditional stellarators, Thea's design uses a dozen large magnets and hundreds of smaller ones, controlled by specialized software to create a "virtual" stellarator. This approach allows for rapid iteration and the ability to tune out imperfections, potentially reducing costs.
