💨 Abstract
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru was initially intended for the Nilgiri Hills but was established in 1909 due to the efforts of industrialist Jamsetji Tata and the Maharaja of Mysore. Tata, despite facing resistance from then-Viceroy of British India George Curzon, successfully secured funding and land for the institute.
