💨 Abstract
Approximately 15% of India's 986 registered transplant centers are government-run, while the rest are private. High costs, infrastructure issues, and lack of awareness contribute to more transplants happening in private hospitals, according to Dr. Anil Kumar from the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO). Although the number of transplants remains consistent (around 18,711 in 2024), the private sector performs more procedures.
