💨 Abstract
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has amended rules allowing foreign lawyers and law firms to practice in India, but limits their activities to non-litigious matters involving foreign or international law. Foreign lawyers cannot engage in litigation, appear in Indian courts, or practice Indian law. They must register with the BCI and obtain No-Objection Certificates from relevant ministries. Indian lawyers can benefit by accessing foreign legal markets based on reciprocity.
