Chinese garlic is flooding the markets in several Karnataka districts, causing concern for local farmers. Udupi Municipal Commissioner has seized five quintals of Chinese garlic and assured traders he will only release it after verification. Indian garlic is priced at Rs 250 per kg, while the Chinese garlic is sold at Rs 50-60 per kg. This cheaper Chinese garlic, which is larger and easier to peel, is preferred by customers.
