💨 Abstract
The Supreme Court of India directed that lawyers practicing in subordinate and specialized courts should also be considered for senior advocate designation, fostering diversity. The court criticized the previous point-based assessment method and issued new guidelines, mandating at least one annual designation exercise. High courts were directed to amend their rules within four months to align with these guidelines. The minimum qualification of 10 years of practice remains unchanged.
