💨 Abstract
India has restricted Bangladeshi exports of ready-made garments and various consumer goods through Northeast land ports, allowing entry only via Kolkata and Nhava Sheva seaports. This decision aims to reciprocate Bangladesh's similar trade restrictions on Indian yarn and rice, restore mutual market access, and prevent Bangladesh from treating Northeast India as a captive market. The move seeks to ensure fairness and equality in bilateral trade and support domestic manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
