đź’¨ Abstract

The Nagaland cabinet discussed strengthening the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system to regulate influx and protect indigenous rights. Minister KG Kenye highlighted the need for stricter enforcement amid concerns over illegal immigration. The cabinet is planning to set up a multi-departmental ILP enforcement directorate and explore digital solutions. Measures include monitoring entry and stay durations, and considering penalties for violations. The state aims to start enforcement even before formal approval, learning from successful implementations in neighboring states.
