In Bhubaneswar, Odisha Vigilance arrested five forest officers for misappropriating ₹80 lakh from the compensatory afforestation scheme in Kalahandi district. An inquiry revealed significant shortfalls in plantation activities and the diversion of funds to fictitious labor accounts. Those arrested include a deputy ranger in-charge, two foresters, and two forest guards. A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
