đź’¨ Abstract
In Gorakhpur, over a hundred women gathered at the Gorakhnath Temple, believing a rumor that their loans would be waived off by submitting a form. Police intervened after confirming no such loan waiver scheme was in place. The women, from various areas, had taken loans through self-help groups (SHGs) from microfinance companies and were led astray by false information spread by miscreants.
