The United Nations' Pact for the Future, adopted at the Summit of the Future, reaffirms a global commitment to transitioning from fossil fuels and accelerating efforts to phase down unabated coal power. 143 countries agreed to this transition, while seven countries voted against and 15 abstained. The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency improvements by 2030.
