💨 Abstract

The Indian government has been aggressively retiring civil servants prematurely under Fundamental Rule 56(j), invoking the provision against 122 officers in the last three years. This rule, which allows retirement after the age of 50 when deemed not in the public interest, has been used to weed out ineffective or questionable officers.
