Numenta, a company with Gates Foundation backing, has released an open-source AI model aimed at reducing energy and data requirements for creating intelligent machines. Founded by Jeff Hawkins, inventor of the Palm Pilot, the model proposes a different approach to AI training, mimicking the brain's constant information gathering and model development process. The company will monitor usage of its technology to address potential concerns as it becomes public.
