💨 Abstract
Robert Prevost, to be inaugurated as Pope Leo XIV, is remembered by locals in Chulucanas, Peru, where he began his ministry in 1985. He was a young missionary from Chicago who, despite the region's poverty and conflict with the Shining Path, stayed and served the community. Locals recall his charm, sense of humor, and dedication to helping youth stay away from crime by engaging them in sports and beach trips.
