Austria's President Alexander Van der Bellen stated that he cannot assign the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) to form a government after their victory in the general election due to other parties' reluctance to govern with them. Instead, the FPO, the OVP (conservative People's Party), and the third-placed Social Democrats are asked to break the "stalemate" and explore possible coalition options.
