💨 Abstract
Austria's conservative Chancellor Karl Nehammer urged President Alexander Van der Bellen to task the far-right Freedom Party, which won Austria's general election, with forming a coalition, despite slim chances. The Freedom Party, with anti-immigration and Russia-friendly views, won around 29% of the vote. It needs a coalition partner to control a majority in parliament. The other parties have expressed disinterest in allying with the Freedom Party.
