Burkina Faso's military government has suspended Voice of America (VOA) for three months due to comments about the jihadist insurgency in the Sahel region. The authorities accused VOA of demoralizing troops and providing false information. Local news outlets have also been temporarily banned from using international media reports. This action comes amidst increasing intolerance towards criticism from the military leaders who seized power in September 2022.
