The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a regional group led by China, criticized protectionist trade measures and unilateral sanctions in a joint statement following a meeting in Pakistan. The SCO, which includes China, Russia, Iran, India, and Pakistan, expressed concern over the impact of these measures on global trade and third countries. The group also called for the expansion of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to develop infrastructure across the region.
