An Indian national, Rambhai Patel, residing in New York, pleaded guilty to orchestrating staged armed robberies at convenience stores and restaurants in multiple U.S. states. The robberies, which began in March 2023, were designed to create fraudulent scenarios allowing store owners or clerks to apply for U visas, meant for victims of serious crimes.
