💨 Abstract
Indigenous groups in the Brazilian state of Para have accused the government of failing to consult them before signing a deal with multinational companies to sell carbon offset credits for Amazon rainforest conservation. The deal, worth $180 million, was announced during New York Climate Week and involved Amazon.com Inc, the LEAF Coalition, the US, UK, and other companies. The groups argue that they are the primary protectors of the forest and should have been consulted.
