💨 Abstract

Pakistan has one of the highest death penalty usage globally, accounting for 26% of the world's death row population, according to a report by Justice Project Pakistan (JPP). In 2024, there were 6,161 prisoners on death row, up from 6,039 in 2023. The highest number of prisoners was in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
