💨 Abstract
The Philippines has accused Chinese maritime officials of assaulting Vietnamese fishermen in the South China Sea, a disputed region also claimed by Vietnam. The incident occurred near the Chinese-controlled Paracel Islands. China claims most of the South China Sea and said the fishermen were working illegally. The Philippines and Vietnam agreed in August to work together and resolve disputes peacefully.
