Tito Mboweni, South Africa's former finance and labor minister, and the first Black central bank governor, has passed away at the age of 65 after a brief illness. Mboweni was a key figure in shaping democratic South Africa as the first labor minister under Nelson Mandela, establishing post-apartheid labor legislation and overseeing the introduction of inflation targeting as central bank governor.
