💨 Abstract

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck southern Mexico near the Pacific coast in Guerrero state on Friday. The quake briefly interrupted President Claudia Sheinbaum’s press conference in Mexico City, where residents evacuated their homes. No immediate injuries or serious damage were reported in Guerrero or Mexico City. Guerrero, which includes tourist destinations like Acapulco, is still recovering from a Category 5 hurricane in 2023.
