💨 Abstract
A Southern elephant seal, informally named Gordy, has been found on land in Simon’s Town, Cape Town. The seal is safe and is being monitored by the SPCA and city officials. This follows a previous incident where a young male elephant seal was rescued from a residential area in Gordon’s Bay after a lengthy operation involving multiple agencies. Southern elephant seals are rarely seen inland, and their appearance poses risks to both the animals and the public.
