💨 Abstract
South Africa is celebrating its success in elephant conservation on World Elephant Day. With 44,000 African elephants and growing populations, South Africa's efforts stand out against declines in other countries. Deputy Minister Narend Singh highlighted the role of elephants in balancing ecosystems and inclusive development. However, increasing human-elephant conflicts pose challenges. Innovative solutions, like early-warning systems and community-based monitoring, are crucial for maintaining conservation gains while ensuring community well-being.
