💨 Abstract
Four major South African banks—Standard Bank, FNB, Nedbank, and Absa—have significantly reduced their ATM footprint, transitioning towards digital banking services. Over the past five years, these banks collectively shut down 8,516 ATMs, driven by the increasing adoption of digital payments. Standard Bank reduced its ATMs by 3,759.
