Natascha Viljoen, a South African, has been named the first female CEO of Newmont, the world's largest gold miner, starting January 1, 2026. Born in Klerksdorp, Viljoen earned her engineering degree from the University of the North West and has a 30-year career in mining, including roles at Anglo American Platinum.
