💨 Abstract
Starting July 1, 2025, the cost for real-time Home Affairs verification in South Africa will surge by 666%, rising from 15 cents to R10 per enquiry. This increase, deemed necessary by the Department of Home Affairs, is expected to improve system reliability and real-time performance for banks and financial service providers. There will be no charge for other government departments like SASSA using the service.
