đź’¨ Abstract
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in South Africa is recognizing women volunteers this August. Women make up 28% of NSRI volunteers, contributing significantly to sea rescues, drowning prevention, and water safety education. Carmen Long and Nicky Whitehead are highlighted for their leadership roles. Long is one of the first women appointed as a Class 1 Coxswain, while Whitehead serves as a Station Commander. Both emphasize the rewarding nature of their roles despite personal sacrifices.
