💨 Abstract
South Africa's Department of Transport (DOT) has filed papers to re-run the license printing tender, further delaying the processing of expired drivers' licences. The original contract with Idemia faced issues, including cost escalations and technical failures. The backlog of over 600,000 expired licences continues to grow, with breakdowns in outdated printing equipment contributing to the problem.
