💨 Abstract
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has refuted claims of a daily traffic fine quota for its officers, reportedly R7,000. DA member Michael Sun asserted that pressure to meet these targets is causing an increase in roadblocks. The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) opposes such quotas, emphasizing enforcement and safety. The JMPD insists fines are issued based on violations, not quotas, and denies any incentivization of revenue generation.
