💨 Abstract
In March 2026, fuel prices in Africa are among the highest globally, with Malawi and Zimbabwe particularly affected. Malawi tops the list at $2.859 per litre due to import dependence and currency shortages. Zimbabwe follows at $1.71 per litre, driven by exchange rate instability and high taxes. These high costs strain household budgets and increase transport and food prices.
