💨 Abstract

In the conflict-affected eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a mountain gorilla named Mafuko gave birth to twin male infants in Virunga National Park. This event is significant for the endangered subspecies. The twins, born on January 3, are in good health and are being closely monitored by rangers. Mafuko, part of the Bageni family, has had seven offspring, including a previous set of twins that did not survive.
