💨 Abstract
Craig, one of Africa's most iconic super tusker elephants, died of natural causes in Kenya's Amboseli ecosystem on January 3, 2026. At 54, Craig was known for his massive tusks and gentle nature. His death was attributed to severe tooth wear, making it difficult for him to chew food. Born in 1972, Craig survived poaching and habitat loss, fathering numerous calves and symbolizing successful community-based conservation.
