đź’¨ Abstract
Headline inflation in South Africa rose to 2.8% in April, mainly driven by a surge in food prices. The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages climbed 4% annually, with meat prices, particularly beef, leading the increase. Monthly food inflation hit 1.3%, the highest since October 2023. Other items like oils, fats, and coffee also saw notable price hikes. Conversely, fuel prices dropped by 3.2%
