💨 Abstract
The eThekwini Municipality has banned swimming at various Durban beaches, effective June 2, 2025, due to the removal of shark nets for the annual sardine run. The sardine run attracts numerous predators, making the waters dangerous for swimmers. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
