💨 Abstract
Two young women in KwaZulu-Natal faced legal consequences for reporting false crime cases. A 26-year-old Melmoth woman falsely claimed her imaginary child was kidnapped, wasting police resources before being charged with perjury. Another 21-year-old lied about being raped by her uncle, who was already in custody for a different crime. Police condemned such deceptions, emphasizing that they divert resources from real cases. Both women face court appearances.
