đź’¨ Abstract
The tense relations between the US and South Africa escalated as the Trump administration imposed a 30% tariff on South African goods. The auto and agricultural sectors in South Africa are severely impacted, with an anticipated loss of 30,000 jobs. President Cyril Ramaphosa and President Trump held a phone call but no immediate solution was found. The tariffs are driven by US demands for South Africa to abandon certain post-apartheid laws that address racial economic inequality.
