The SAHRC has clarified that all individuals in South Africa, including illegal foreigners, have the right to free healthcare. This response follows recent incidents where groups like Operation Dudula and the Patriotic Alliance blocked undocumented migrants from accessing clinics and hospitals. The commission emphasized that refusing emergency medical treatment based on nationality or documentation status is unethical and unlawful. They urged the Department of Home Affairs and SAPS to enforce the law and prevent such actions.
