In 2025, South Africa saw a significant number of car hijackings, with over 50 incidents reported daily. The top five most hijacked cars are the Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Polo Vivo, Ford Ranger, Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Grand i10, due to their high demand and resale values. Other targeted models include the BMW 3 Series, Nissan NP200, and Kia Picanto.
