💨 Abstract
A new high-altitude weather station has been installed in the northern Drakensberg, the highest in southern Africa, to monitor the headwaters of the Tugela and Elands rivers. This project, a collaboration between SAEON and the University of the Free State, aims to protect South Africa's vital water sources. The station provides real-time climate data, aiding researchers, communities, and land managers in understanding and mitigating environmental changes, including those driven by climate change.
