💨 Abstract

Young South Africans are leading a digital voter registration surge ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections, with over 305,000 new registrations and 60,752 updates from January to September 2025. The Electoral Commission (IEC) reports that 76% of new registrations were done via Voter Management Devices, 12% online, and only 10% in person.
