💨 Abstract
Starting October 1, 2025, Emirates passengers flying from Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Durban will face a new ban on using power banks during flights. This decision follows an incident where a power bank caught fire mid-air, causing smoke in the cabin. Lithium batteries in power banks can overheat and enter thermal runaway, leading to intense fires and toxic smoke.
