💨 Abstract
The UK Health Security Agency has identified the West Nile virus in British mosquitos for the first time. Typically found in Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, the virus can cause severe, potentially fatal illness in about 1 in 150 infected individuals, primarily spread through mosquito bites. British health officials are working to prevent its spread across the UK.
